Will’s opening performance demonstrated a polished command of the the stage and his dreamy yet comedic personality, which naturally complemented Austin’s follow-up set, featuring his more stoic and sensible view of “art mimicking life,” if you will. The rhythmic flow of both artists’ music cast a sort of spell over the crowd, while the “church-like” feel of the listening space took on a dreamlike aura of its own. I, for one, had an absolutely memorable experience, and even left with Will’s cheat sheet for his cover of The Grateful Dead’s “Ripple,” which he was performing in Richmond Saturday evening for a Dead cover show. I will definitely be keeping an eye on these two for the possibility of seeing them perform nearby in the future, and I strongly suggest you do the same. It’s not every day that you meet artists from Music City who are so relatable and down-to-earth as Austin Plaine and Will Overman.

Austin Plaine Biography

I don't know where I could even begin...
I always thought being a songwriter & musician was just a pipe dream until it quickly became a reality and just as quick, hit me square in the face...hard. I signed a record deal and got dropped immediately after one album; the same album that included the song "Never Come Back Again", which has garnered over 22,000,000 streams on Spotify alone, and was also featured on the hit tv show "Nashville". I shot myself in the foot and lost my publishing deal in Nashville. I went on tour and lost so much money I had to move back home for a time just to settle my debts. I questioned going back to Law School. I questioned if I was cut out to make music again. I questioned life. I sat alone for a long time.
But, even in your darkest hour, a glimmer of light can open the floodgates to something even brighter.

Winter of 2019 was my darkest hour, literally and figuratively, so I decided I'd flee to a cabin in northern Minnesota and surrender to the heavy weight of anxiety I had put on myself and wrote what would become my third and perhaps most genuine and honest work, "Faded Feathers". Produced by Anthony da Costa and mixed by Dan Knobler, these 13 songs come from a place of maturity and the realization of how fickle and futile the world can be, knowing there's only a limited amount of time to change your life and circumstances. Best do it now.
