About this concert

Concert to be held on the Putney Tavern Lawn in Putney, VT, sponsored by Next Stage Arts!
At the crossroads of South American Folklore and Northern Americana, Acoustic Nomads blends music from two continents to create soaring original melodies, playful improvisations, and driving grooves, sweeping listeners away on a journey from the Appalachians to the Andes. Since forming at Berklee College of Music in 2019, Acoustic Nomads has been pushing the envelope of progressive acoustic music - drawing inspiration from the likes of Turtle Island String Quartet, David Grisman, Hamilton de Holanda, and many of Bela Fleck's acoustic projects, all united in that they use acoustic instruments and are universally beyond category. Acoustic Nomads forges a sound interweaving North and South American musical threads as varied as the continents themselves.

Acoustic Nomads (AN) Biography
Acoustic Nomads is an atypical string quartet of young superstars on the rise in the New England acoustic music scene, uniting their diverse musical backgrounds to create a uniquely Pan-American musical experience.
It’s like a musical potluck - everyone brings something to the table, and before you know it you have a feast with friends!
Acoustic Nomads' repertoire interweaves music from Venezuelan, Appalachian, Peruvian, Argentinean, Brazilian, and American Jazz sources, connecting these threads with beautiful original melodies, rhythmic grooves, and playful, lyrical improvisation between the musicians.
The group is comprised of Ethan Setiawan, mandolinist with Cornerhouse and 2014 National Mandolin Champion;
Sofia Chiarandini, 2021 Freshgrass Fiddle Competition Champion and fiddler with The Ruta Beggars and Jacob's Ladder;
Maurizio Fiore Salas, prolific composer, virtuosic guitarist and player of the Venezuelan Cuatro, and Latin Grammy Scholarship winner;
and Noah Harrington, award-winning jazz performer, composer, educator, and sometime bassist with Mari Black, The Ruta Beggars, and Alisa Amador of Tiny Desk Fame.
Since forming at the Berklee College of Music in Boston in 2019, the group has released three albums, including "The Abominable Stringband Vol. 1 & 2," available for streaming and purchase everywhere music can be heard.
Acoustic Nomads has also graced stages and filled halls around the Northeastern United States, from Club Passim, Arts at the Armory, and WBUR Cityspace in Boston and Cambridge to Barnarts Vermont's Feast and Field series, The Dance Hall in Kittery ME, the Hartford Jazz Society's Baby Grand series, and the Grey Fox and Joe Val Bluegrass festivals.
