Cecilia Nordlund Biography
Cecilia Nordlund is a Swedish singer, songwriter, composer, guitarist, and educator, renowned for her dynamic voice and significant contributions to the alternative rock scene. Born on September 13, 1973, in Östersund, Jämtland, Nordlund has been an influential figure in various musical projects since the early 1990s.
Music career:
Souls (1991–1997, 2016–2017): Nordlund co-founded the band Souls in 1991 together with Andreas Catjar-Danielson and Johan Karlsson, serving as the vocalist and guitarist. The band released two albums produced by Steve Albini: "Tjitchischtsiy (Sudêk)" in 1994 and "Bird Fish or Inbetween" in 1996. They were known for their powerful live performances and toured extensively in the United States. The band reunited briefly between 2016 and 2017, releasing singles like "WHOOEWHOO" and "TROLLMAKT."
Monkeystrikes: After Souls disbanded, Nordlund formed Monkeystrikes with Johan Karlsson from Souls. They released the album "You Hate My Beautiful Love" in 2005.
Cilihili (2008–2010): Under the solo moniker Cilihili, Nordlund released the album "Not Listening" in 2009.
Sunshine Rabbits: Nordlund was also part of the discopunk band Sunshine Rabbits, collaborating with Lotta Wenglén, Petra Lilja, and Carolina Carlbom.
Fullmånen Från Helvetet (2016–present): In 2016, Nordlund initiated the project Fullmånen Från Helvetet, collaborating with cellist Åsa Gjerstad and multi instrumentalist and sound artist Christine Owman. The group released their debut album "Åska & Blod" in 2018, blending haunting cello melodies with intense beats and ethereal soundscapes. During 2025 they are touring again with an audiovisual concert and releasing new music
