Museums Biography
Montreal's Museums is the psychedelic, shoegaze, indie-rock project of Ali Kouri, Nic Barkun, Anthony Kameka, and Lou Raskin. The band is defined by its layered, textured soundscapes—evocative vocals, dense guitars, driving drums, and experimental distortions, creating a dreamy yet powerful sonic experience.
Despite being in its early stages, Museums has performed in venues across Quebec, Ontario, Germany & the Netherlands. The band has built a reputation for their DIY ethos, successfully creating demand for live performances and relying on word-of-mouth and the strength of their music to connect with fans. Some notable performances include a main-stage slot at Festival sur le Canal, Rirkrit Tiravanija’s untitled 1996 installation at Fondation PHI and headlining Nuit Blanche for Montréal Boreal. The band has performed alongside popular acts such as Passion Mango, Po Lazarus, North by North, Velvet Beach, Oliver Forest, Bluebird and many more.
On May 17, 2024, Museums released their debut EP, Sink Your Teeth in My Brain. Most recently, Museums was awarded a fully-funded, sound recording residency at Arthaus in Toronto, where they aim to complete their debut full-length album set for release in Spring 2025.
