pulses. Biography

Hailing from northern Virginia, pulses. is a 4 piece post-hardcore band whose goal is to stretch the “post” out as far as it can go. Across 3 full length albums, 2 EPs, a couple singles and covers, the band has melded upbeat R&B/hip hop, brooding emo, pop, funk, into some of their mainstay songs. In addition to those genres, their alternate a-sides include mixes of dance punk, hardcore, j-rock, and even ska or 2-step garage. To the untrained ear, this may sound like too much. However, when it’s pulses. behind the curation, you’d be surprised at how seamless these sounds can be intertwined. About the band’s latest effort, "It Wasn't Supposed To Be Like This", Andrew Sacher of BrooklynVegan writes, “it’s nearly impossible to sum up the new pulses. album in one word, but if I had to try: maximal. It just does everything.”

Through their recurring Woodland Creatures tour alongside their best friends in the progressive post-hardcore band With Sails Ahead, the band has met and befriended a slew of peers such as I Met a Yeti, The Callous Daoboys, and Cat Company, who all share the band’s ethos and love of maximalist music.

With no plans of stopping, the band hopes to have more music and more guest features out within the coming months but in the meantime, their album "It Wasn't Supposed To Be Like This" has more than enough vibes to take in, so put it on repeat for a bit and enjoy the ride. It’s pulses., baby.
