About this concert
If you missed the highly praised studio performances from Spring 2023 with Youngtree & the Bloom (followed by their trio the next night), this is your chance to catch this dynamic duo, Youngtree & Carole Bee, in our intimate studio space. ✨
Two bright stars of Newfoundland’s music scene, Peter Youngtree and Carole Bestvater have been playing music together since 2015, developing a close musical and creative partnership through their original touring band Youngtree & The Blooms. They have become a regionally sought-after act for their exuberant energy, musical skill, and onstage chemistry. As a duo, they have one rule: “Only play music we love.” This means an eclectic mix of traditional and modern folk music, well-crafted original songs and instrumentals, and a joyous, intimate energy shared with audiences.

Youngtree & The Blooms Biography
Newfoundland’s Youngtree & The Blooms have answered the call we’ve all been making: the call for a re-injection of spirit and authenticity into performance and songwriting. The band is full of fun-loving firecrackers that sparkle onstage, and frontman Peter Youngtree’s stage persona has been called everything from “colourful” to “mesmerizing” to “an insane preacher-man poet.”
After being honoured with Newfoundland’s prestigious Ron Hynes Songwriter of the Year award for the band’s 2018 debut, Youngtree assured us he wasn’t a one-shot wonder with the release of Youngtree & The Blooms’ self-titled second album in October 2022. With the romanticism of early Steve Forbert, smarts of a young John Prine and a voice that comes from you and me, he has built upon a combo of themes central to humanity in a splendid array of folksy/poetic writing, and it’s his vocals; expressive, caring and knowing, that resonate with every number. When a singer leaves you feeling as if you just had a drink with them at the bar and an empathetic ‘slap on the shoulder’ was delivered upon parting, you know you’ll return for repeated listens.
With boisterous fiddler Carole Bestvater and tone-hungry guitarist Joe Tucker at his side, Youngtree & The Blooms have been embarking on the Canadian festival and club circuits since live music returned to Canada, firing up audiences and building fans with a stage show that is at once familiar and utterly unique.
