About this concert
Arranging through improvisation? That is exactly what this dynamic quartet stands for! Humour and atmosphere are central to their unique concept in which classical style meets jazz, Latin-American, French chanson and neoclassical music.
The abbreviation DRE comes from Dyens Roland Ensemble, after the French composer-guitarist. His music, using elements of jazz, Brazilian rhythms and here and there a touch of French chanson, has greatly inspired this ensemble and still comprises the largest part of their repertoire.
Their most recent repertoire consists of neoclassical music with works by Òlafur Arnalds, Nils Frahm, Gustavo Santaolalla, Steve Reich, Max Richter and Matthew Cochran. In this programme too, the ensemble starts from improvisations as basis, creatively building on their originals. Ensemble DRE is currently working with the Flemish composers Jeroen D’hoe and Pieter Schuermans to write new repertoire for their unique line-up.
As a listener, expect a young ensemble that guides you through their innovative programme with an incredible dose of energy. Let yourself be surprised!
Music by Roland Dyens, Òlafur Arnalds, Nils Frahm, Gustavo Santaolalla, Max Richter and others.
