WinterSun is an annual, wintertime celebration of Merimbula and the beaches, lakes and creeks that make it the place it is. WinterSun is about connecting our community with our most treasured asset, our waterways. In doing so, we hope to remind ourselves of Merimbula’s essence and what it is that makes our place special. We invite anyone that loves the water and feeling alive on a winter’s day to join us in the celebration that is WinterSun. Where Coastal Adventure Meets Community Spirit Celebrating its 5th year in 2025, the WinterSun Festival has become a premier community outdoor adventure event on the Sapphire Coast, drawing trail runners, cold-water swimmers and food and music lovers to experience the breathtaking beauty and resilience of this coastal landscape. Rooted in community spirit, outdoor challenges, and regional identity, WinterSun Festival showcases iconic endurance races such as the iconic Wharf to Wharf Run, and the new Light to Light Trail Run, and a series of cold-water swims, including the Jetty to Jetty 1.2km lake swim, Ripple Racers kids’ race, Pups on SUPS challenge, and the Splash N Dash plunge. More than just a race series, WinterSun includes Streetfest; showcasing local regional live bands, food vendors and local distillers, brewers and winemakers. The festival fosters regional tourism, local engagement, and a deep connection to place. Since its inception, the festival has worked alongside local businesses, sponsors, council, and community groups, growing into a true celebration of the Sapphire Coast’s culture and natural beauty. WinterSun Festival proudly reflects the strength and passion of the local community, embodying the spirit of endurance, collaboration, and innovation. From its early days as a visionary event concept to its five-year milestone as a thriving cultural celebration, the festival continues to evolve, bringing people together through shared experiences and unforgettable challenges.
