Tango Machina Biography
Based in Asbury Park, New Jersey, Tango Machina provides an acerbic brand of aggressive rock 'n' roll to a scene that lacks it. Initially formed in 2008 as a musical partnership between singer/guitarist Paul Caffrey and bassist Damion DeStefano, the goal was established from the outset: create quality hard rock music for personal and public consumption, in an era that had watered down and homogenized the very definition of what “hard rock” music could and should be. Joined by drummer Jesse Comerford, the group swiftly established a name for themselves locally in the New Jersey music scene as a power trio.
Tango Machina has released two EPs: a self-titled debut recorded entirely in Caffrey's childhood home and released in 2012, and the long anticipated sophomore release Tongues of Animals, recorded at New Future Studios with producer Paul Ritchie and released in 2022.
Tango Machina has shared the stage with a number of noteworthy acts including CKY, The Giraffes, Spacehog, Cheetah Chrome, Sylvain Sylvain, Crobot, Prima Donna, and The Netherlands.
Following Comerford's departure in 2020, the Tango Machina lineup was in flux for several years before finally stabilizing with the band's tightest ever configuration in 2024. Now bolstered by longtime collaborator Tim Norris on guitar and Quinn English (The Gay Blades, Plus Plus Minus) on drums, Tango Machina is poised for the most stable, productive, and creatively promising period in the band's career.
