Rick Lupert Biography
Rick Lupert has been involved with poetry in Los Angeles and beyond since 1990. He is the author of "God Wrestler: A Poem for every Torah Portion" which was described by Rabbi Ed Feinstein as "reverently irreverent." He edited the anthologies "A Poet's Siddur" and "A Poet's Haggadah", and writes the weekly Jewish poetry column "From the Lupertverse" for JewishJournal.com. Rick has had the opportunity to bring his accessible, funny, and wise poetry to settings all over the world, including Limmud Fest in England, The URJ Biennial, Limmud Baltimore, Limmud Los Angeles, New CAJE, Pico Union Project, and many synagogues throughout the United States. Rick has also authored 22 other collections of poetry, most recently "Hunka Hunka Howdee!" (poems written while traveling through Memphis, Nashville and Louisville) and the Jewish collections "I'm a Jew, Are You?" and "Feeding Holy Cats" (poems written while staffing a Birthright Israel trip.) Rick is a long-time participant in the annual Hava Nashira Jewish music educators retreat, and works as a song leader in the Los Angeles area.
