Sam Wheelock

Mountain Sam Wheelock is an authentic part of the heritage and subculture of the southern Appalachians. His voice resonates sorrow and joy in every note and with every story he connects us.

He's the grandson of a convicted Tennessee moonshiner. Contributions can be heard in the Grammy nominated "Tennessee's Mountain Heritage" and "The Addams Family"movie. He's received awards for advertising music as the staff composer for Cox Communications ranging from The Atlanta Journal-Constitution to The Palm Beach Post, Auto Trader and others. He's also been the featured artist on PBS's nation wide series "Song of the Mountains" as well as WDVX's acclaimed "The Blue Plate Special".

Mountain Sam's one-man production, "A Story and a Song" is about growing up in the mountains of eastern Tennessee. Although respectful of the heritage, he leads the evolution of modern electric folk music with a personal memoir. It's a heartfelt journey into the heritage of a regional people. Visit...
