Kristian Bugge & Ruthie Dornfeld
Kristian and Ruthie first met each other in the Danish folk music circles in the mid-1990’s, where Ruthie had been touring regularly and grown a reputation as a well-renowned artist and fiddler since the early 1980’s. Later when Kristian was a music student, Ruthie was guest-teaching at the Carl Nielsen Academy of Music in Odense, Denmark and Kristian made sure to take the opportunity to study with her while she was there. About ten years later, they met again in and around Seattle when Kristian had started touring and performing in the USA. They formed the trio 3 Fiddlers 3 Traditions with Métis fiddler Jamie Fox and have continued to meet and play together ever since. This summer marks a new chapter in their collaboration and friendship as they will be touring and recording as a duo the first time, excitements are running high!
The repertoire will span from Danish traditional fiddle tunes and music from the other Nordic countries to old-time American and self-composed original tunes, possibly spiced up with a few Venezuelan waltzes. Music learned directly from folk music legends like Danish-American Dwight Lamb (1934-2024), Danish accordion player Karl Skaarup (1924-2013), fiddler Peter Uhrbrand from the Danish island of Fanø and many more.
Expect everything from wild polkas and jigs to lyrical waltzes, fiery reels and happy hopsas, all served with humor and stories from their many years on the road.

Kristian Bugge Biography
Kristian Bugge is a fiddle player from Denmark, currently living in the beautiful capitol of Copenhagen. His main activities takes place on the Danish, Scandinavian and North American folk music scene. With a focus on the strong Danish folk music traditions, he's playing and touring with groups like Baltic Crossing, Jensen & Bugge, Gangspil, Habadekuk and Wenzell & Bugge, occasionally with Kings of Polka and 3fiddlers 3traditions.
He's learned a lot and still gets new inspiration from many fiddle players, including Peter M. Uhrbrand, Kalle Almlöf and Jerry Holland. One of his best musical friends across nations and generations is Dwight Lamb from Iowa, USA with whom he still gets together whenever there is a chance. For about 10 years Kristian played duo with the legendary accordionist, Karl Skaarup until he sadly passed away in 2013 at the age of 89.
He has a strong love for the traditional music but also really enjoy experimenting and being part of crossover projects as the cooperation with classical percussionist Ronni Kot Wenzell in the very active duo Wenzell & Bugge and the award-winning Danish folk big band Habadekuk.
9 Danish Music Awards (Danish Grammys) ! "- quite an impressive row of awards that he's received both as a soloist and with his groups. To mention a few ”Danish Folk Artist of the Year” at the Danish Music Awards 2011 and again “Danish Folk Musician of the Year” at the Danish Music Awards 2016!"
