Shin Suzuma

Shin Suzuma is a pianist and composer. His music explores the meeting point between the classical and neo-classical, exploring an interplay between electronic, warped organic strings and piano textures.

Inspired by the sonic and harmonic creativity of Chilly Gonzales and Nils Frahm, he began to develop his long-held love of improvisation into composition. Being of mixed British and Japanese heritage his other inspirations include the Japanese artists Ryuichi Sakamoto and Joe Hisaishi.

Beginning the piano at age 3, many of his compositions are for solo piano and are played in such a way to create a sense of intimacy and calm. With the occasional touch of melancholy, his music always has a prevailing sense of hope and gentle optimism.
