Diima Biography
Dima Dahaba (Diima) is a visionary music producer, sound designer, rapper, singer-songwriter, and audio engineer specializing in recording, mixing, and mastering. He is the founder and CEO of Bissilon Sound, an independent label based in Bissau, Guinea-Bissau.
With a rich multicultural heritage — Bissau-Guinean, Russian, and Ukrainian — and a deep-rooted passion for music, Diima has spent decades crafting a sound that bridges continents. A relentless sonic explorer, he draws inspiration from rhythms and traditions around the globe. In 2000, he co-founded Barudju Organizado, one of the first groups to produce original beats in Guinea-Bissau, earning his place as a trailblazer in the country’s hip-hop movement.
In 2002, Diima relocated to Brazil to refine his craft, earning a degree in Music Production from Anhembi Morumbi University in São Paulo (2009). Over the next 16 years, he became an influential force in Brazil’s urban music scene — particularly in Hip-Hop and R&B — as one-half of the duo Sevenlox and through high-profile collaborations with artists from Brazil, Portugal, the United States, and Angola.
Returning to Guinea-Bissau in 2018, Diima launched Bissilon Sound as both a platform for his solo career and a catalyst for nurturing new local talent. His debut solo album, Korson Di Tambur (2020), set a new benchmark in Bissau-Guinean contemporary music. Since then, he has released multiple acclaimed projects and collaborated with influential artists from across generations, actively contributing to a creative renaissance that spans music, fashion, visual arts, and film.
In 2022, Diima made history as the first West African artist to participate in Spain’s prestigious Rara Residencia program, performing in Villanueva del Rosario, Málaga — a testament to his rising international profile.
Now based once again in Brazil, Diima continues to evolve artistically while deepening his connection to the global Guinean diaspora. His latest release, No Tempo (2025), is a bold and soulful album that reaffirms his commitment to authenticity and innovation — a seamless fusion of Bissau-Guinean cultural heritage and cutting-edge global sound, poised to captivate audiences worldwide.
