An absolute treat to experience this quartet at Hirut. Allison’s solos brought me to tears and emotion- such beautiful melodic phrasing and patterns that resolves with such surprising creativity. Needless to say but Reg stands as one of great guitarist. An amazing gift just to listen to how he constructs ideas and rhythms that always feels fresh, new and exciting. Just love the sound of the guitar and alto playing heads in unison - cycling and countering between Allison, Reg, Todd and Ian. That Herby Hancock arrangement was definitely an experiment that turned into a highlight. You have to look out for these musicians and make a point to see them - especially at this venue.
