Bee Boy$oul Biography

BEE BOY$OUL (formerly Bee Boisseau) is bursting out of the musically-fertile D.C. metropolitan area bringing fresh sounds to scene as newly signed on musician on DeVaughn Multimedia Group (DMG). As a writer, producer and vocalist, Boy$oul (pronounced "Boy-Soul") has been honing his craft since childhood and embracing opportunities that have helped him build his musical career. The culmination of his lifelong musical journey and passion all lie within the contemporary fusion of modern-day R&B, hip-hop and jazz to comprise his forthcoming debut set, Back To Love.
Boisseau’stalent was first recognized and encouraged in his home in Richmond, Virginia, where the musician grew up with combination of musical influence from the church, to his own classical instrument trainings, to the beginning of hip-hop era. Music was constantly playing in his home; from a young age, he trained on the family piano while also enjoying the classics from his mother’s and grandmother’s generations. And as part of the first generation to grow up on hip-hop, it was inevitable that the quick-mind, clever and talented Bee was drawn to its sound. He developed his craft wherever he could, from recitals to rap battles, and found a love for performing front of an audience. Consequently, his passion and fixation on music and performance followed him to college, where he focused on his keyboard and began playing gigs. The beauty in the range of music that inspired him, coupled with the applause of the crowd enlivened Bee to seek music as his profession.
Bee began his career as a professional performer as the keyboardist for The Fuzz Band in Virginia, leading him to play for the likes of Lauryn Hill, Faith Evans, Avant, Jill Scott and other neo-soul heavyweights. As his demand and networking circle grew, Bee made firm connections and soon found himself propositioned with the opportunity to do shows in Denver, Colorado. His musical path transitioned to smooth jazz in Denver as he gained connections and respect in the smooth-jazz circuit, performing in there for nearly ten years. Bee played with major smooth-jazz artists like Nick Colionne, Gerald Albright and Jakiem Joyner, ultimately leading him to New York and meeting Raheem DeVaughn.
BOY$OUL’s soon-to-be-released Back To Love, from DMG serves, as an introduction to his multifaceted talents and musically-rich “jazz-soul-hop” sound. The album has something to titillate the ears of all contemporary music lovers. Be it the “Me Too” friendly hip-hop/soul of the title track (featuring Raheem DeVaughn and Eric Roberson), the dreamy and atmospheric vibe of the simmering “Fly Me To The Universe” (featuring Yahzarah), or Bee’s vocoder-laced vocalizing on the chilled funk/R&B groove “Rock With You” (featuring Raheem DeVaughn). Boy$oul explains, “A lot of the musical influences from all of the places I’ve learned, like church and school can be heard on this record. Then there’s the echoes of jazz and me being a hiphop head….all of that came full-circle with what you hear on Back To Love.”
