Marian Runk Biography
Dallas-born, Chicago-based Marian Runk’s life-long fascination with storytelling evolved from book arts and comics to songwriting and performing. Her second album, Two Wires and a Spark, is filled with powerful imagery shaped by this diverse artistic background. Her lyrics explore loneliness, (mis)communication, grief, living alongside addiction, and road trips through the U.S. Her songs have been described as "honestly and humorously reflecting the ambiguities of being a fallible human." Sonically in the vein of Karen Dalton & Gillian Welch, Marian sings with wry wit and a clear voice.
“Runk’s soprano voice is like honey and her tunes are full of hooks.”
