João de Sousa Biography
João de Sousa, born in Ermesinde, began his musical career in Wrocław’s punk scene before shifting towards more acoustic sounds. He collaborated with artists from various countries, including Poland, Argentina, and Cuba.
In 2016, he released his first solo album, Luta, described as Latin Chamber Pop. In 2018, he refined his style with Ideal, incorporating elements of jazz and chamber music. In 2021, he released Furacão, exploring synthetic and pop sounds, along with a project with Bastarda Trio reinterpreting fado.
In 2024, to celebrate the 50th anniversary of the Carnation Revolution, João de Sousa released José Afonso, a tribute to the Portuguese singer. The album brings together international musicians from Warsaw, blending diverse instruments and influences to reinterpret Afonso’s work while preserving its original essence.
