Frankie Ruiz Jr. is a Puerto Rican salsa singer and the son of the legendary “El Papa de la Salsa,” Frankie Ruiz. Known as “The Son of Salsa,” he has successfully built his career by honoring his father’s musical legacy while establishing his own distinctive style in salsa.
From a young age, Frankie Jr. was surrounded by music. He made his debut in 2003 during a tribute concert in Tenerife, Canary Islands. At 21, he released his first single, “Vete Ya,” marking the beginning of his solo career. Since then, he has performed at major events, including Puerto Rico’s Día Nacional de la Salsa in 2012 and Salsa Fest Veracruz in 2024.
A key milestone in his career was performing at Marlins Stadium in Miami, where he has performed three times. He has also shone at Puerto Rico’s Festival de la Salsa de Frankie Ruiz in Mayagüez, carrying forward his father’s legacy. Frankie’s vocal talent is often compared to his father’s, earning praise for preserving the Ruiz family’s signature sound.
His music includes popular tracks like “La Rueda,” “Deseándote,” and “Mi Libertad,” blending traditional salsa with modern elements. Frankie has also performed internationally at the Carnaval de Barranquilla in Colombia, Estadio Nacional de Peru, and Vive la Salsa in Panama.
