Vassell Meka

Vassell Meka is a dynamic recording artist, producer, and musician originally from Kingston, Jamaica. As the founder of Legacy MekasMuzik, an independent record label launched in 2018, Meka has made it his mission to uplift emerging talent—creating a platform forartists, producers, songwriters, and musicians to launch their careers. Blending roots reggae with world sounds, Meka brings a freshglobal edge to the genre. His music is deeply influenced by his background in music education and his passion for communityempowerment. A graduate of the Edna Manley College of the Visual and Performing Arts, and later Mico University, Meka taught musicat both primary and secondary levels before moving to the U.S., where he now works in the special education field. His compassion andlife experiences flow directly into his artistry. As a former drummer/percussionist, Meka has performed across Jamaica and NorthAmerica, and has collaborated with acts such as Chiliguys, Minori, Caleb Hart, and the New Awtical Band. His production work helpedlaunch the Chiliguys, whose debut album Love, Papa topped the US reggae charts. His debut solo album, The Full Spectrum, wasGrammy-considered for Best Reggae Album in 2024, cementing his position as a rising force in modern reggae.
