DARUMA’s music speaks to the 21st century through a potent blend of improvisation, electronics, driving grooves, and evocative cinematic textures, while retaining firm roots in the jazz tradition. They are 2025 Creative Capital finalists, won the 2024 South Arts Jazz Road touring grant, and have been featured on NPR, PBS, and CBS broadcast TV. Members of the band have collaborated with leading voices in contemporary music including Billy Childs, the Colorado Symphony Orchestra, Action Bronson, Big Gigantic, Tia Fuller, and Theo Croker, and have won ASCAP and Downbeat Magazine awards.

Heard them at Amarillo College in Amarillo Tx this pass tueday. They were great. Wanted to come see them in OKC but we don't always get what we want. Hope to get to se them in Denver sometime. An awesome band!

DARUMA Biography

DARUMA is a national touring band whose music speaks to the 21st century through a potent blend of improvisation, electronics, driving grooves, and evocative cinematic textures. Their artistry has garnered recognition and funding from the National Endowment for the Arts, the Mellon Foundation, the Doris Duke Foundation, South Arts, and the Creative Capital Foundation.

The band has toured the U.S. extensively and has been featured on PBS, NPR, and CBS broadcast TV. They look forward to performing at The Kennedy Center during their 2025 U.S. Summer Tour.

Members of the band have performed with leading voices in contemporary music like Billy Childs, the Colorado Symphony Orchestra, Action Bronson, Big Gigantic, Theo Croker, and Tia Fuller, at notable venues including Dodger Stadium, Red Rocks Ampitheatre, the Blue Note Amsterdam, and Birdland, and have won ASCAP and Downbeat awards.
