verticalpark Biography
Denis Laing is a Calgary-based electronic music producer and performer. His project, verticalpark, will take you on a journey of melodic rhythms with elements of trance, progressive house and deep techno. His first exposure to electronic music was in 1977 with Oxygene by Jean-Michel Jarre. Another influence was Gary Numan’s The Pleasure Principle (1979). He started making and recording electronic music when he was 14 years old when he got his first synthesizer, a Concertmate MG1 by Moog Music. While attending the University of Alberta (1988-92), he started to perform live. His production setup has evolved from cassette recorders, to an Atari ST using CUBASE, later using Reason, then adding Bitwig Studio. Denis’ style has also evolved over the years from experimental, to Pop, to his most recent style of Melodic House.
