A Liquid Landscape Biography

A LIQUID LANDSCAPE has hosted a variety of band names in the past, however, the core of the group has remained unchanged. Starting out as a nu-metal four piece in a small village in the North of Holland, brothers Niels and Robert van Dam teamed up with frontman Fons Herder in the summer of ’99. It wasn’t until 2007 that they found their final form incorporating Coen Speelman as their drummer. As their style had gradually evolved over time from nu-metal, through emo rock to post-progressive rock, the band adopted the name A LIQUID LANDSCAPE in 2009. Current state of affairs allow for a broader set up than ever before. The band has always flirted with the acoustic possibilities of their songs since the very beginning but today’s back catalog and experience allow them to take it to a new level. Their first official video in a stripped down version was released March 2016, A BRIEF MOMENT OF FUTURE, followed by the acoustic live EP: STORIES LEFT UNTOLD. This EP contains four revised songs from previous albums recorded during a live session. Meanwhile, the band is still working on new material for the follow up to their sophomore album THE LARGEST FIRE KNOWN TO MAN. On this record they took a slightly rockier approach to the post-progressive music of their debut album, NIGHTINGALE EXPRESS. Regardless of what the future holds musically, A LIQUID LANDSCAPE fans know this is a group that will never put out the same record twice.
