Our sound finds balance between tight, captivating grooves that beg you to dance, and pure, meandering expression. The music we create reflects the beauty that can be found in the desert, in the mountains, in your friends, in a neon-lit dance floor as a disco ball spins overhead. Desiderata reflects the laid back mountain environment where we formed in Durango Colorado. Starting out in the college scene, playing bars and house parties we had the freedom to experiment to find our own way to create the feel-good, captivating dance music we want to share. Blending a variety of sounds from Soul, Pop, Funk, Indie, Disco, and Rock leaves our sound without genre. The band doesn’t know how to describe it and will generally leave it up to you to decide. Birdie Wren, Emily Zalevsky, Linda Horne, Codi Jantsch, and Essie Horne, are all musicians, song writers, and best friends who love creating music together.
