Andras_2020

Andras_2020 is a rising figure in Europe’s burgeoning electronic music
scene. Originally from Brazil, the artist garnered a dedicated following by releasing their intricate and
textured debut EP, “Cuerpo Temperamental” in 2021. This success was followed by
the Cuerpo Tour, which saw Andras enthralling audiences across Europe and the UK for nearly two years. Andras’ work amalgamates contemporary dance and club culture. Their performances
fuse the visceral materiality of the body, violent screams, and poetry, exploring themes of survival and
physical transformation, contrasted with the gentleness of soft pop live aesthetics.
Motivated by a desire and natural ability to fuse personal experiences with creative expression, Andras
released “Blowhole” for Rest Now!. The title candidly contrasts the concept of inhaling and exhaling
through a hole, like cetaceans, with anal pleasure and its associations with queerness and discomfort.
At the base of the creative process lies the recovery experience from a series of major rectal surgeries,
serving as a paradox and a mirroring of the shame, sorrow, pain, and torment they endured during such
a period. The EP balances its personal core with a lively avant-garde pop exterior,
showcasing prominent synthetic sounds and metallic textures, evoking the ambiance of an operating
room or the calls of dolphins. Andras’ second bedroom studio record features collaborations with thrilling
artists such as Bristol-based Sarahsson and MICHAELBRAILEY.
