Come along on a musical journey back in time to a lost world of prospectors, pioneers, bootlegger-bandits, high-graders, dog-sledders and moonshiners! As Will Gillespie performs his "Campfire Cabaret" song-cycle and storytelling musical: MINE! True Stories and Legends of the Porcupine Gold Rush at Theatre on the Ridge September 19 & 20 to kick off Ontario Culture Days programming at the Theatre. Featuring a live, acoustic on-stage pit band in period costume as a group of prospectors sharing stories around a campfire in the early days of the Porcupine Gold Camp. Performing songs written in Old-Time styles inspired by the period, from Bluegrass to Ragtime, to Barrelhouse Blues, Concert Hall, Hot Jazz, Polka, Waltzes and MORE! and projected backdrops of original Northern Ontario landscape paintings by Durham Region's own Susan Robinson and historical photos from the collection at the Timmins Museum National Exhibition Centre, of the real people, places and events Will is singing about. MINE! True Stories and Legends of the Porcupine Gold Rush celebrates the lives of the unsung heroes behind the legends of the Porcupine Gold Rush of 1909.
