About this concert
Acclaimed singer-songwriter Rod MacDonald, composer of songs recorded by Shawn Colvin, Garnet Rogers, Mosaic Whispers and many others, returns to the Liberty Museum woth longtime bassist Mark Dann for another memorable concert. A longtime headliner in the Greenwich Village, NYC music world, MacDonald has 21 songs in the Smithsonian collection and 14 solo cds, and has made numerous tours of the US, Canada, Australia and Europe, appearing in major festivals and concerts. Known for his insightful lyrics and rough tenor vocals, MacDonald performs a wide range of material, from beautiful love songs to absurd humor to the insightful analysis of current events that prompted Goldmine magazine to cite his 2023 album Rants And Romance's "astute observations and commentary on the current stage of politics and populism at a time when courtesy and common sense seem to have gone wholly astray. The material is pointed and prophetic, with melodies that ring, resonate and make emphatic impressions." Expect an unforgettable evening of songs about freedom, love, justice, and compassion—the kind that stir your soul and leave you feeling more inspired than when you arrived.
