Mob Rules Biography
Mob Rules began in July of 2010 following Ronnie's death in May, as a group of local musicians wanting to pay homage to one of the greatest rock and metal singers of all time. Matt Cannon and B.T. Hancock dreamed up a karaoke-style Dio Birthday Bash and invited other musicians and singers to join them onstage to pay tribute to Ronnie, all while raising money for the Ronnie James Dio Stand Up And Shout Cancer Fund.
Matt Cannon, James Rider, Ernie Herrera, Omar Rios, BT Hancock, Scott Swanson and many other local musicians played while audience members sang Ronnie's songs from the Rainbow years through Black Sabbath and into the Dio solo years. The first Dio Birthday Bash at Trophy's Bar on South Congress was a blast and an absolute success, so another was planned for 2011. The second Dio Birthday Bash went so well, we decided to continue on under the name Next In Line.
Over the years, changes have come along with the addition of Danny Wright and Rick Cartwright on guitar, Eddie Mendoza on bass, first Paul Bawa then Seth Orell on drums, and a name change of Mob Rules. But one thing hasn't changed; it's still all Dio, all the time.
