Shingo Sekiguchi Biography
Guitarist, composer, and producer.
Described as a, “…chill guitarist who seamlessly blends sharp backing and solo guitar within laid-back sounds,” Shingo Sekiguchi has a vast background in jazz, soul, rock, and pop. Despite this incredible variety, Sekiguchi’s unique sound-making, which doesn't fit into any specific genre, has garnered worldwide attention. As a solo artist, he released his first album "Brilliant," in 2015, featuring special collaborations with Dutch jazz singers Wouter Hamel, and Giovanca, in addition to J-Pop Singer-songwriter, Iri.
In December 2023, he released his second album "tender," which surpassed 20 million streams on platforms such as Spotify, Apple Music, and the TikTok Viral Charts.
Throughout his solo journey, he has collaborated with international artists such as France's national hip-hop bands HOCUS POCUS and IAM, popular Filipino vocalist Armi from UDD, and nationally recognized J-Pop artists Ichiko Aoba and SIRUP, releasing various tracks. Additionally, he engages regularly in various collaborative projects, such as GAGLE×Ovall, with the hip-hop group GAGLE, and a joint project with Takao Tajima, the lead singer from the critically acclaimed Tokyo based group Original Love.
Furthermore, through increasing demand, he has composed numerous commercial songs and jingles, and continues to support a wide range of artists, both domestically and internationally, as a producer, arranger, and composer, with his increasing list of collaborations including Aimyon, Kenshi Yonezu, Aina The End, Takaya Kawasaki, ASOBOiSM, and Wouter Hamel.
On top of his solo work, Sekiguchi is also an active member in the band Ovall, with fellow bandmates mabanua and Shingo Suzuki. Ovall has successfully performed in several major festivals across Japan, such as FUJI ROCK FESTIVAL, GREENROOM FESTIVAL, RISING SUN ROCK FESTIVAL, and Sunset Live, as well as tours throughout Asia, including Taiwan and the Philippines.
