About this concert
RE:VAMPED WEEKEND – LINEUP ANNOUNCED! Goth City Promotions have announced the lineup for the third Re:Vamped Weekend of vampire-adjacent culture, returning in 2025 after the success of the first two events in 2023 & 2025. Re:Vamped, which builds on the success of the World Dracula Day Lecture which began in 2021, takes place at venues in Bradford including the famous Midland Hotel, which has a unique place in the history of UK gothic culture as the place where legendary Victorian stage actor Henry Irving died in 1905 on his farewell tour accompanied, by his business manager – ‘Dracula’ author Bram Stoker. On Friday 23rd May, the Vampire Masquerade Ball returns in the French Ballroom at the Midland Hotel from 8-pm midnight, featuring the return of DJ Pinka Belle! At lunchtime on Saturday 24th May, the fifth World Dracula Day Lecture will be held in his French Ballroom at the Midland Hotel from 12pm. This year’s lecture will be given by a bonafide goth legend – the one & only Rosie Garland! Rosie has been named one of the most compelling LGBT+ writers in the UK today, she writes fiction, poetry, and song lyrics, & is author of four historical novels: ‘The Palace of Curiosities’, ‘Vixen’ and ‘The Night Brother’, and her new novel, ‘The Fates’ (Quercus). Rosie is also lead singer with post-punk band The March Violets. Their latest album ‘Crocodile Promises’ is out now with Metropolis Records. In her lecture ‘Radiant Girls: You can’t be Goth, queer and feminist!’ she’ll reflect on a pioneering lifetime in Goth/ic writing and performance – as co-founder of post-punk band The March Violets, mistress of mayhem Rosie Lugosi the Vampire Queen, and Rosie Garland – lyricist, novelist, poet & short story writer. A voyage into the dark & light side of post-punk and Goth culture of the 1980s and beyond, discovering how to forge identity and find a voice when an outsider amongst outsiders. And from 5pm on Saturday 24th May sees as day of incredible live music at The 1 in 12 Club Bradford, featuring a rare hometown show by post-punk legends 1919, headlining a fine bill including Last July, Byronic Sex & Exile, Chaos Bleak and Hurtsfall! Plus, a smattering of stalls, films, and other surprises over the weekend! All proceeds will be donated to our £2,000 appeal for PAFRAS (Positive Action For Refugees & Asylum Seekers). Tickets are on sale now via Eventbrite, at: https://www.eventbrite.co.uk/…/revamped-weekend-2025… Incredible artwork by Daevid Jael!
