RIO GRINDAY

Harlem, NY aka Harlem World has been on the forefront of music, fashion, style, and culture in hip hop. Rio Grinday is here to add to that rich history and solidify his place in the urban culture capital of the world.

Rio Grinday is a 21 year old rap/hip hop artist born and raised in the shadow of some of the greats such as Big L, Camron, Mase, Herb McGruff, ASAP Rocky, and more. Rio Grinday began rapping 3 years ago as a way to cope with the angst that comes from dealing with the trappings of an urban environment. Because of this Rio found himself drawn to the music of other young artists dealing with the same things such as Lil Peep and XXXtentacion whose life and death inspired Rio Grinday to pursue music as an outlet.

Although Rio Grinday’s early music reflected this genre and tone of music, he has grown musically and tapped into the music history and culture of 90's Harlem hip hop and merged it with today's musical landscape to craft a sound that connects with the youth, not just locally, but universally. Rio Grinday’s EP release "P.I.L.L." (Pretending I'm Loving Life) was released on all digital platforms in 2021, during the pandemic, and got rave reviews not only for his musical content but also for his message on dealing with mental health during those troubled times.

2022 will see a slew of releases from Rio Grinday starting with the release of his JiJbeats produced single "Used Me" and the TikTok viral song " Big Dog ''. Future collaborations are in the works and you can catch Rio Grinday at your nearest HBCU as he embarks on his HBCU Homecoming Tour in the fall of 2022.
