Beth McKenzie Biography
Blending ‘00s British pop with refreshing Gen Z transparency, Beth McKenzie is a bright new addition to today’s pop scene. After facing a tumultuous time personally during her late teens, songwriting became an outlet for the Manchester-based artist. Now, having recently returned with her most anticipated single to date, ‘Don’t Tell My Boyfriend’, Beth's entered a new chapter in her artist journey.
With influences ranging from Lily Allen and Paloma Faith to Chappell Roan and Gracie Abrams, the 21-year-old combines Britpop nostalgia with the rule-bending vision of this generation's hottest risers. It's a formula that has already seen Beth gain support from the likes of BBC Radio One, Wonderland, DIY, Rolling Stone Korea, EARMILK, Atwood Magazine, Radio X, Jodie Bryant's Discover Playlist and more.
On her debut EP, 'Does This Make Me A Bitter Woman?', Beth weaves between vibrant indie-pop and edgy alternative-leaning sonics as she lays out some of her most intimate thoughts. From deconstructing a partner’s internalised homophobia on ‘Don’t Tell My Boyfriend’ to wrestling with religious trauma on 'The Cult', she details her most personal experiences in the hope of being a voice for those who feel unheard.
