SKLOSS + Divided
Banging, atmospheric and spacy rock by Scottish-American duo and four-headed Belgian beast with a solid reputation
Saturday 10 May 2025
Start: 20:30
You (maybe) don't know them, but soon you won't be able to do without them. SKLOSS is an American/Scottish duo that has just fired their debut album 'The Pattern Speaks' at the world. Not a graze, but a complete hit if you ask us. Released on the London label Fuzz Club and produced by Charles Godfrey (Swans), this album is a very nice display of ability.
‘The Pattern Speaks‘ combines heavy psychedelia, post-metal, drones, meditative drums and raw riffs into an infectious and atmospheric whole.
SKLOSS was formed in Austin, Texas, by American drummer/vocalist Karen Skloss (Moving Panoramas) and Scottish guitarist/vocalist Sandy Carson (Iglomat) during the COVID lockdown. Surrounded by drums and amplifiers and the need to play loud, SKLOSS’ sonic sound became a reaction to the crazy world outside their window. Jams became songs, while the noise level, experimentation and distortion became much louder than you would expect from a duo. “The fact that we live near the woods has something to do with that. We started using music as an outlet, like most people at that time, we were so cooped up,” says Skloss.
Divided
Fast-growing West-Flemish with a solid live reputation
This four-headed Belgian beast will soon knock you over with sludgy riffs, hardcore grooves, a post-metallic shoegaze vibe and cutting vocals. They are called Divided, and you may have seen that name on concert posters. They have already been allowed to perform on the stages of the better concert halls (4AD was shamelessly missing from that list) and played with bands such as Brutus, Psychonaut, Wiegedood, Stake and went on tour as support for the American Shy, Low. And all that with one EP.
After their travels they went into the studio to record their first long player ‘Light Will Shine’, an album that Dansende Beren gave a very enthusiastic four and a half stars. Their motivation: “Divided makes a crushing impression with their debut album. It is excellent how the young band already sounds so mature. With the enormous thrust and dedication that radiates from Light Will Shine, we would not be surprised if the band appears on the radar of many festivals.”
High time to experience the Divided phenomenon live yourself. Very soon in Diksmuide!

SKLOSS Biography
Surrounded by drums and amps and the need to play loud, indulging in their heaviest and gentlest impulses all at once, SKLOSS blends elements of heavy psychedelia, post-metal drones, meditative drums, and distorted riffs performed with honesty and deliberation. The result is a powerful atmospheric wall of Space Gaze unique only to SKLOSS.
The duo’s project is an offshoot of their lives as creative professionals. Karen Skloss, a filmmaker who has been on Barack Obama’s pick list and edited seminal films about artists Syd Barrett and Townes Van Zandt, and Sandy Carson, a former professional BMX pro rider turned photographer & cinematographer, enjoy new creative frontiers with the project.
“Living next to the woods has something to do with it,” says Carson. SKLOSS originally formed as a husband-wife duo between guitarist Carson (Iglomat) and drummer Skloss (Moving Panoramas) during the COVID lockdown. “We started to use music as an outlet, like most everyone during that time, we were so cooped up,” says Skloss. Jams became songs, while the noise level, experimentation, and distortion went up to a volume much louder than you’d expect from a duo. The sonic sound of SKLOSS became a response to the crazy world just outside their window. The living room became their practice space and place of meditation.
A self-released debut EP 'Voices Travel Through This' was released in 2022, then following only a handful of dynamic live shows under their belt sharing the stage with acts like Divide & Dissolve, Messa, The Well, Glorium, and Oryx, SKLOSS were added to play a set at the 2022 Levitation Festival in Austin, TX.
During the rollercoaster Austin, TX winter of 2023, SKLOSS holed up at Point West Studios with engineer Charles Godfrey (Yeah Yeah Yeahs, Swans) and recorded their debut LP for release on March 7th 2025 on Fuzz Club Records.
An immersive audio/visual meditative performance and collaboration ’Aether’ with renown artist Thomas Hooper took place in a concrete culvert at Colab Projects in February 2024 ahead of SKLOSS playing several shows during SXSW. The same cosmic performance was taken to the Iconic Echo Bridge in San Antonio, TX and to a forthcoming immersive experience at the James Turrell Skyspace at UT Austin.
