The Gobshites Biography

For 22 years, The Gobshites have been bringing Irish-Punk debauchery to stages on both sides of the pond. With songs spinning in continuous rotation on XM Radio and millions of plays on streaming services, The Gobshites have become an Irish music powerhouse around the globe. Beyond their original songs and traditional Irish staples, The Gobshites are known for “Irishing up” underground punk tracks and classic pop hits. Think of The Gobshites as the Jimmy Buffett or Kenny Chesney for the barfly crowd. Just substitute the warm sunshine, white sandy beaches and margaritas for neon lights, dive bars and Guinness and you’ll get the idea.

Peter Walsh is the evil genius behind The Gobshites, and the leader of the pack. Peter is a 35 year, music-industry veteran who began his career by working his way up through the corporate ranks of Capitol Records / EMI. He later moved on to front the legendary punk rock group, Meat Depressed. In 2002, Peter formed The Gobshites, and the rest is history.

The current lineup includes Peter Walsh (acoustic guitar and lead vocals), Stephen Feeney (accordion and vocals) Tom Hughes (bass and vocals), Steve Latanision (fiddle, banjo, and mandolin), Nina Lordi (fiddle), Melissa Staiti (vocals and keyboards), and Jesse Coutu (drums and vocals).

The Gobshites have released 6 albums and numerous singles, including The Whistle Before The Snap (featuring Richie Ramone of the Ramones on drums). This and all previous releases are available on Spotify, YouTube, Apple Music and all other streaming platforms.

Previous gigs range from the tiniest of pubs to headlining some of the world’s largest Irish festivals; Rockaway Beach / Breezy Point Irish Festival, Motor City Irish Festival, South Boston St. Patrick’s Day Parade, Shamrock Fest in DC, River O’Green Festival in Tampa, along with countless others; and have shared the stage with legendary acts; Dropkick Murphys, Black 47, Richie Ramone, The Tossers, The Mahones, The Peelers, The Young Dubliners, Stiff Little Fingers, Gaelic Storm, The Alarm, and Derek Warfield to name a few.

While many performances include “colorful language”, The Gobshites are able to clean up their act, as they often play all-ages shows.

With The Gobshites, every day is St. Paddy’s. If you’ve got a restraining order against sobriety, come out and have a pint!
