Madam Nightingale Biography
Debuting in 2020, perhaps a joyful bizarre love triangle between Everything But The Girl, Nina Simone and Goldfrapp gave rise to Madam Nightingale: an emerging post-genre artist to watch.
Launching their first live electronica performance with a 1st prize winning performance at SOUNDS OF ST KILDA | battle of the bands during St Kilda festival 2020, & runner-up for the Artistic Merit Award at Newcastle Fringe 2023, Madam Nightingale delivers an engaging theatrical musical performance that’s not to be missed.
Songs with art-pop roots are written and performed by artist and autodidact lyricist-composer Phaedra Gunn (she/they), a Melbourne music scene regular since 2014 previously performing with their Winterfriends folk-rock music collective. Sparse but lush instrumental arrangements are created primarily in collaboration with musician and soundscape arranger/producer Aj'Zho, who previously toured extensively most notably with The Merlin Bird supporting Jethro Tull, Asia and other prog bands in Germany and the UK; other collaborating producers working with Madam Nightingale include Flip That Groove, Me From The Future & Chris Pehrson.
Madam Nightingale performs solo and in collaboration, recently premiering the 'New Beginnings' extended show with emerging rapper-to-watch Cloutie Will at Adelaide Fringe festival.
