The Dusty 45s Biography
From the smoky back rooms of Seattle's dive bars to the grand stages of national tours, The Dusty 45s, fronted by its dynamic founding member, singer-songwriter Billy Joe Huels, have been electrifying audiences for nearly three decades. Their raw energy and timeless sound have earned them a dedicated following and a reputation as one of the region's most beloved bands.
Driven by Huels's creative vision, the current lineup—affectionately dubbed "Dusty Version 6.0"—features Kohen Burrill on drums and vocals, Robin Cady on upright bass, and Rod Cook on lead guitar and vocals. This dynamic trio delivers high-octane live shows that have solidified the band's reputation for stellar musicianship.
Over the years, The Dusty 45s have become a Seattle institution, gracing the airwaves of KEXP and sharing stages with luminaries like Adele, Brandi Carlile, Wanda Jackson, and John Prine. Their signature blend of gritty rock 'n' roll and heartfelt storytelling has solidified their status as one of the region's most respected and enduring acts. With their electrifying live performances, they've captivated audiences across the country.
The Dusty 45s are poised to release their most intimate and powerful album to date, All the Beauty In Between (out November 22). Conceived by singer-songwriter Billy Joe Huels, primarily during the Covid-19 pandemic, All the Beauty In Between is a testament to the power of music to connect and heal. As Huels explains, "The songs on this album were born from the silence of spring 2020, a time when we were all stuck in our homes and isolated from our communities. They are stories about seeking and finding love, holding on and letting go, leaving and coming back home. It’s acelebration of all the beauty in between."
From twangy roadhouse vibes to surf-inspired anthems, the record captures the band’s signature energy while exploring new sonic landscapes. Produced by the talented Ryan Leyva (aka Johnny Nails) and recorded at Seattle's Studio Litho, this raw, honest record is set to captivate audiences and bring the crowds to their feet at the band's hometown release shows.
As The Dusty 45s continue to push the boundaries of their sound, be sure to connect with them on social media, listen to their music, and catch them live. Their legacy is just beginning.
We hope you will come celebrate “All the Beauty in Between” with the Dusty 45s!
