Maddy Ringo
Since picking up a career on the sidewalks of Toronto, multi-instrumentalist indie folk songwriter Maddy Ringo has become prominent emerging artist in the Southeast Michigan folk scene with her poignant songwriting. At just 20 years old, she brings a contemporary edge and a mellifluous, jazzy voice to a timeless musical tradition of cultural conversation. Her latest album People of the Earth and Sea explores vivid narratives of the complex internal world within an alienating post-industrial society, drawing on her experience as an artist raised in an urban environment.

I saw Iona for the first time two years ago and was so impressed that I saw a second show the following night. This house concert was a treat to hear Iona sing again and tell her stories and experiences with Scottish ballads and songs. The house and hosts were very nice and provided a variety of snacks and drinks for all guests. She sang with her electric piano, and encouraged the audience to sing along. It was quite a memorable night to see her perform so close in a living room.
