About this concert
Miami, FL (Tuesday, March 25, 2025) – TEDxMiami, title sponsored by The John S. and James L. Knight Foundation (Knight), is proud to announce its upcoming event titled Beyond Boundaries: Ideas that Inspire, taking place at the New World Center, located at 500 17th Street, on Thursday, May 8th at 7:00 p.m.
This year’s event invites attendees to explore what it means to grow, persevere, and challenge the limits we place on ourselves and our communities. As we look into breaking boundaries, the evening will feature thought-provoking talks by global leaders in technology, health, education, psychology, and innovation — along with a dynamic live performance from the pioneer of ReggaeEDM, Kēvens, whose mission is to spread messages of peace and unity that transcend cultural boundaries. He recently released his latest album titled Call To Balance which has received international acclaim, with Spain's OCIMAG magazine calling it "one of the most powerful releases of the year within the scene that embraces—equally—electronic music and ancestral roots."
“TEDxMiami is all about catalyzing new ideas that can truly shape the future,” said Knight’s Miami Director Marta Viciedo. “This year’s theme, Beyond Boundaries, brings together a collection of voices that are changing the conversation in their industries and inspiring us all to push further — with resilience, courage, and imagination.”

About TEDxMiami
In the spirit of "ideas worth spreading," TED has created TEDx. TEDx is a program of local, self-organized events that bring people together to share a TED-like experience. Our event is called TEDxMiami, where x = independently organized TED event. At TEDxMiami, TEDTalks video and live speakers will combine to spark deep discussion and connection in a small group. The TED Conference provides general guidance for the TEDx program, but individual TEDx events, including ours, are self-organized. For more information, visit TEDxMiami.com and follow @TEDxMiami on Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, and YouTube.
About TED
TED is a nonprofit, nonpartisan organization dedicated to discovering, debating and spreading ideas that spark conversation, deepen understanding and drive meaningful change. Our organization is devoted to curiosity, reason, wonder and the pursuit of knowledge — without an agenda. We welcome people from every discipline and culture who seek a deeper understanding of the world and connection with others, and we invite everyone to engage with ideas and activate them in your community.
TED began in 1984 as a conference where Technology, Entertainment and Design converged, but today it spans a multitude of worldwide communities and initiatives exploring everything from science and business to education, arts and global issues. In addition to the TED Talks curated from our annual conferences and published on TED.com, we produce original podcasts, short video series, animated educational lessons (TED-Ed) and TV programs that are translated into more than 100 languages and distributed via partnerships around the world. Each year, thousands of independently run TEDx events bring people together to share ideas and bridge divides in communities on every continent. Through the Audacious Project, TED has helped catalyze more than $3 billion in funding for projects that seek to make the world more beautiful, sustainable and just. In 2020, TED launched Countdown, an initiative to accelerate solutions to the climate crisis and mobilize a movement for a net-zero future, and in 2023 TED launched TED Democracy to spark a new kind of conversation focused on realistic pathways towards a more vibrant and equitable future. Kēvens Biography
In the ever-evolving landscape of global music, few artists manage to carve out a niche as distinctive and impactful as Kēvens.
Home based in Miami, this visionary musician has seamlessly fused the soulful rhythms of reggae with the pulsating beats of electronic dance music (EDM), pioneering a musical genre.
After making his debut as a solo artist at the 1998 Florida Zen music festival, a music writer asked him to describe his sound ,he replied “ my musical concoction is ReggaeEDM”.
His journey is a testament to the transformative power of music, transcending cultural and linguistic barriers to deliver messages of unity, love, and social consciousness.
Kēvens' musical odyssey began in the vibrant club scene of Miami, where he initially made his mark as a DJ. His innate ability to blend diverse musical styles caught the attention of Anthony and Richard Booker, half-brothers of the legendary Bob Marley, leading to his involvement with the progressive reggae group Le Coup.
In fact, family matriarch Cedella Marley Booker told young Kēvens very early in his musical career: "Like a letter, you must write a song with purpose."
This experience was instrumental in shaping his unique sound as he searched for his own musical identity— in the end in coined a harmonious blend of reggae's rich heritage with the futuristic elements of EDM.
Beyond his musical prowess, Kēvens is deeply committed to using his platform to promote messages of unity, love, and social consciousness. His music is promoting a theme of multiculturalism, spiritual enlightenment, artistic expression and positivism.
Kēvens views himself as the least of The Almighty’s servants whose purpose is to be a conduit for healing and connection, aiming to bridge divides and foster a sense of global community.
His live shows consist of a lush drum 'n' bass amalgam of vocal dexterity and musicianship, mixed with a progressive rock-reggae dub style and stunning dance as well as visual imagery.
Kēvens’ knack for the timely and profound has enabled him to tour all over the world and finds him along side an eclectic array of legends and prodigies including: Steven Tyler, Ice Cube, Tiestö, Daft Punk, Duran Duran, Carlos Santana, The Jacksons to name a few.
This global citizen coined the ultimate mantra:
“Positivity is a Necessity”
