Manic Wave Biography
Manic Wave is more than just a band—it’s an emotional deep dive into the highs and lows of human experience. Blending haunting melodies, raw lyricism, and immersive soundscapes, the Atlanta-based trio channels the energy of Radiohead, Modest Mouse, and Bright Eyes, while forging their own path in the indie/alternative rock scene.
Fronted by George Hamelin (vocals, guitar, songwriter), Manic Wave delivers introspective storytelling with an unfiltered edge. His lyrics unravel themes of mental health, relationships, and personal identity, capturing the restless emotions of a generation seeking connection. Behind him, Jason Barnes, a pioneering bionic drummer, pushes the boundaries of percussion with his robotic prosthetic arm, proving that innovation and passion have no limits. Matt Bankston, the band’s bassist and in-house producer, shapes their sound with atmospheric textures and intricate sonic layers, ensuring every track is as dynamic as it is evocative.
Their debut single, Panic Room, set the tone for their signature style—moody, visceral, and deeply human. Following up with Less Cynical, a melancholic meditation on heartbreak and the numbing effects of antidepressants, and Liberty Bell, a bold critique of religious and political control in the Bible Belt, Manic Wave continues to create music that resonates with those who feel too much and think too deeply.
Currently performing throughout Atlanta and beyond, the band is also part of The Cybernetic Sound Tour, a groundbreaking live experience that blends music with adaptive technology. Whether on stage or in the studio, Manic Wave is here to disrupt, connect, and inspire.
