About this concert
From pure percussion to progressive music that refuses to be categorized: on K Night we join forces with the festival Red Light Jazz to present two promising groups from South Korea. Featuring the percussion trio Groove&, followed by the five-piece formation Yonglee & The Doltang. The three members of Groove& form a dynamic female percussion team that offers a broad range of sounds and instruments. On the one hand their music is delicate and sensual and on the other hand it is solid and meticulous. The Doltang departs from the melodic, emotionally charged compositions of pianist Yonglee. These evolve into extraordinary improvisations in which synthesizers, electric guitars and percussion intertwine. Much like contemporary jazz or progressive rock, but with eyes on the future.
