Odessa (DJ) Biography
Five acts share the Odessa name:
(1) OdESSA, a garage funk/pop four piece band from Wellington, New Zealand.
(2) Odessa, a two piece electronica band from Europe.
(3) Odessa, a defunct French coldwave band on Murnau Records.
(4) Odessa, a contemporary Italian progressive rock band.
(5) Odessa, a italodisco nymphet, produced by Andy Tyrell. http://www.myspace.com/odessastar
OdESSA (1) are earning a reputation for the phenomenal live performance of their own Garage-RnB pop rock and have become firmly established as one of Wellington's most exciting live bands. Their most recent album The Prize has been followed by an extensive tour of New Zealand.
Odessa (2) have risen from the ash of Ming, those two Wallonian electronique musicians who guided Electronica in the late 90s/early 2000s. Actually it is only the female part of Ming left in Odessa. the male pendant is now a Swiss/German guy called Philip May. Odessa produce and play minimal techno with this certain influence of Frederique Franke's voice.
