It's been a long time coming, but "The Last One" Finally here!
Please join me as I play the songs, tell the stories behind them and even play a couple I left off.
"The Last One," was born from COVID lockdown. In its infancy it was a cheap garage band home recording that I never released. I've since moved, built a new Roots Cellar Studio, upgraded my equipment, matured the existing songs, reflected, wrote a bunch more songs and re-recorded. These are songs of loss, triumph, conflict, resolution, peace, resolve, unification, hypocrisy, miss-understading, hope and Love [too much??] Musically they encapsulate my 'wandering roots' philosophy, drawing from blues, folk, reggae, rock, Motown, subtle singer songwriter fingerstyle guitar, and meandering through time signatures. While the bulk was recorded in my new RC studio, it features some heavyweight musical friends remotely around the country. Adam Goodhue contributed drums from his Lone Mountain Studio studio in Atlanta, GA, and Craig Aikin bass from his LoBro studios in Jersy City, NJ and Nashville, TN. Chris D’Amato layed down guitar and Lee-Ann Lovelace vocals at Taylors he Roots Cellar. Paul Opalach added additional tracks and pieced it all together at Long Hill Recording in Shelton, CT. It’s been seven years since I released a full-length project and I am so very excited to share with you what I believe to my finest work yet!

Shawn Taylor Biography
Shawn Taylor
“Music with wandering roots”
Shawn Taylor serves up a deep bag of Americana and original Wandering Roots music on guitar, harmonica, vocals and foot percussion. He has released four CDs of original ‘wandering roots’ music, toured nationally since 2008, been acclaimed for his songwriting and short fiction, and opened for legends like Maria Muldaur, Vance Gilbert and Peter Mulvey along the way. One time he even loaned his guitar to Jose Feliciano. He’s thru-hiked the Appalachian Trail, The Long Trail and The John Muir Trail, been an oysterman, a cabinet maker, and he and his wife have brought their two young children on musical tour the three summers before COVID, for over 13,000 musical miles. He’s currently recording his 5th CD of original material.
“Shawn Taylor is one of the finest traveling troubadours performing on the circuit these days. Boasting world-class guitar chops, soul enriched vocals and an uncanny knack for capturing life in a song,” (Brian Owens - Metronome Magazine Boston)
"Taylor has a mellowness to his voice that works well against the frenetic flash of finger-picking that is the foundation of his songs. The songs crackle with the guitar work.” - TheAlternateRoot.com
“His lyrics dabble in a wonderful gritty naturalism that's uncommon around here” - Dan Barry - New Haven Advocate
Shawn Taylor performs original wandering roots music on acoustic guitar, harmonica, vocals and foot percussion, with a healthy dose of story-telling and humor, and a unique sampling of musical Americana stew.
