About this concert
Americana...Singer/Songwriter "Duvekot has gotten hotter, faster than any local songwriter in recent memory. Her songs feel at once fresh-faced and firmly rooted, driven by the whispery sensuality of her voice.” Boston Globe Antje Duvekot has solidified her reputation as one of Boston’s top singer-songwriters with her debut studio release “Big Dream Boulevard” and follow-up albums “The Near Demise of the Highwire Dancer” and “New Siberia.” She creates entire worlds in verse, taking you there with beautifully understated melodies that create stunning paintings of color and shade, heat and light. In an unpoetic and “in your face” world, she is lyrical and subtle. Seth Glier, a Grammy-nominated artist from Western Massachusetts, opens the show. https://antjeduvekot.com/ https://sethglier.com/

Antje Duvekot Biography

Antje Duvekot is an up-and-coming German-American folk singer-songwriter. Where so many songwriters stretch for their highest notes, hoping to impress and astound, Duvekot bravely mines her deep reaches, where the dark feelings lurk. It softens her phrasing, leading us in with whispers, letting us know she believes every word she sings.

Her melodies seem like suddenly occurring thoughts, matching the hushed, conversational allure of her singing. They feel so immediate, so in synch with her lyrics; and yet also snugly rooted, oddly familiar, like memories you can't quite recall.

She sings, and writes, as if she thinks songs are important; not means to an end, but tools of survival. And for her, that's just what they are.
