About this concert
Over the course of her twenty five year touring career, Susan Werner has built a reputation as one of the country’s most compelling live performers. With formidable chops on guitar (she began playing at age 5) and piano (she was a guest on Marian McPartland’s Piano Jazz) along with a graduate degree in voice performance, her shows are a one-woman master class in musicianship. Her songs are noted for their poetry and sharp wit, and also for their astonishing stylistic range. She’s written songs in the style of Gershwin and Cole Porter (I Can’t Be New, 2004), gospel music (The Gospel Truth, 2007), traditional Cuban “son” (An American In Havana, 2016), and New Orleans junk piano (NOLA, 2019). In 2014 she composed the music and lyrics to the musical theater score Bull Durham, The Musical (MGM). Her latest recording of original songs, The Birds of Florida, took flight January 2022. “When it comes to crafting a song, Ms. Werner’s only peers are Jimmy Webb and Paul Simon.” -No Depression “Susan Werner, a clever songwriter and an engaging performer, brings literacy and wit back to popular song.” -The New Yorker “(Werner is) a songwriter and musician who is in such complete command of her gifts that it’s almost scary.” -All Music Guide Taylor Abrahamse Like a maple leaf in a gust above the prairies, Taylor Abrahamse blissfully glides beyond the borders of song, gender & genre with his/her deftly crafted, hook-laden hammerclaw pop. A Paul Simon/Prince crossbreed and a Kerrville Newfolk Winner – (s)he’ll leave you laughing, inspired, and singing along… if you can reach that high. Out of love for Taylor’s writing, Eddie Kramer (Hendrix, The Beatles, etc), insisted on co-producing/mixing his acclaimed debut album. Fresh from a US tour with #1-selling Itunes artist Flamy Grant, Taylor will be releasing new OAC-funded music throughout 2025.

My first House Concert! The Art Hub is such a cute and cozy environment for an acoustic show. The sound was great, the chairs were comfy, and it was a very relaxed environment- complete with tea and popcorn! Taylor Abrahamse is a talented voice and claw hammer guitar artist- who definitely kept the audience on our toes! Not only was the music great, Taylor is funny as well, which made for a super dynamic show. There were even lots of opportunities to sing along! Highly recommend this musical experience!

Taylor Abrahamse Biography

"Taylor is truly one of Canada's most original and outstanding artists [that] I have worked with... His sense of melody & song structure, along with an amazing skill as a performer, will soon be revealed to the general public."

- Eddie Kramer, Grammy-Winning Producer/Engineer
(Jimi Hendrix, Led Zeppelin, David Bowie, The Beatles, Brian May, Carly Simon)

“Taylor's live show is absolutely electric. When we toured together, I loved watching how audiences remained transfixed by Taylor's talent & wit. Absolutely brilliant songwriting and performance.”

- Flamy Grant, Billboard-Charting Singer/Songwriter

Like a maple leaf in a gust above the prairies, Taylor Abrahamse blissfully guides audiences beyond the borders of song, gender & genre with his/her deftly crafted, hook-laden hammerclaw pop. A Paul Simon/Prince/Jim Carrey crossbreed & Kerrville Newfolk Winner, (s)he’ll leave you laughing, moved, and even singing along - if you can reach that high.

Starting as a five-year-old Elvis impersonator, at age 6, Taylor vowed to hold onto a sense of play as he got older - and inspired by Jim Carrey in ‘Ace Ventura’, asked his parents for an acting agent. This resulted in many early career roles, including music-adjacent ones such as the ABC biopic ‘Inside The Osmonds’ where he played Jimmy Osmond and worked with the real Osmond family, and a recurring role on ‘DOC’ where he acted alongside Billy Ray & Miley Cyrus. As a tween, listening in the dark to the full catalogues of Elton John, Queen & more sparked a ferocious songwriting, practicing & recording ethic - to such an extent he wrote songs and even mini-musicals related to school assignments for extra credit. At sixteen, he was a finalist on Canadian Idol, and began regularly playing across Ontario while studying music at York University.

Taylor is now a Kerrville Newfolk & Four Winds Emerging Artist Winner, FAI & NERFA official performer, as well as a Mariposa Emerging Artist finalist. Her FACTOR, T.A.C and self-funded 2020 debut studio album was co-produced by Taylor and Eddie Kramer (Jimi Hendrix, The Beatles, David Bowie, etc), and received a deluxe edition in 2021. The album sparked an opening slot for multi-Juno-winner and personal hero Hawksley Workman, airplay across Canada & multiple North American tours. His upcoming release will be of an intimate but electrifying 2024 live solo concert at Godfrey Daniels in Pennsylvania, to be followed by an O.A.C-funded pop-focused E.P to be released in 2025. In 2023, Taylor released the O.A.C funded ‘Live In Lockdown Vol 1’ (2023), which was one of many personal live & full band projects Taylor recorded during his relentless & unexpectedly unsuccessful fight to save Silverthorn Studios - a community recording studio he co-founded/operated for 7 years. The studio is hopeful to re-open in partnership with Toronto listening staple Hugh's Room Live in the coming years.

Taylor has also written musicals, and writes regularly with artists & songwriters emerging and established, including The Accidentals, Max Parker, multi-platinum writers Jeff Franzel (N’Sync, Josh Groban), Liz Rodrigues (Celine Dion, Eminem) and more. He has also written & performed music for many projects including the feature film 'About Fate' starring Emma Roberts, ‘Superwish’ (Teletoon), and ‘Fangbone!’ (Disney XD), one of many animated TV series in which Taylor also stars and/or plays supporting characters. Taylor also sang extensively & provided arrangement assistance in 50+ songs of the stop-motion musical series 'Norman Picklestripes' (Universal), as well as songs in the feature film ‘Tabaluga’ (Sony Pictures). His original songs & productions for online media such as Super Planet Dolan, Headspinner Productions & Corus Entertainment have been heard over 21 million times.

So far in 2024, Taylor has performed extensively. Appearances include various Canadian Pride Festivals, The Four Winds Music Fest, a Home Routes Ontario tour, and USA tours alongside #1-Selling Itunes artist Flamy Grant, Sage Christie, Rachel Marie & more. In 2025, Taylor is set to perform another Homeroutes tour - this time, through Alberta.

This has been the first year Taylor has performed extensively while expressing his/her genderfluid identity - finding joy, courage, learning curves, and body curves along the way.
