Wachiwara Biography
In the mix of L.A.'s diverse music scene, Wachiwara emerges as a rhythmic force, a six-member ensemble that pays respect to its roots & blends an array of influences.
Wachiwara begins with reverence for those who laid the foundation of Cumbia. Influenced by the work of Andres Landero, Armando Hernandez, and the Peruvian trailblazers Los Destellos.
Wachiwara, a nod to the masters who shaped their musical identities.
Wachiwara is more than a band; it's a family.
Each member, a unique brushstroke in the collective canvas, contributes to the harmonious blend that defines Wachiwara's style.
The band carries the weight of a decade's worth of experience from their time with "Bebo & The Goodtime Boys." The transition from one music chapter to another, where experience meets new raw-talent & the echoes of the past resonate in the present.
Wachiwara's musical identity is a result of blending diverse influences into a seamless fusion. Their sound pays homage to the hypnotic beat of Cumbia, echoing the streets of Cartagena. The psychedelic-ness of Peruvian Chicha finds a home in their repertoire. The echoes of '60s Garage, The Heart of Soul, The Twang of'50s Rockabilly, and the infectious groove of Boogaloo converge with the improvisational spirit of Latin jazz. Wachiwara becomes a melting pot of sounds, where tradition meets experimentation.
Wachiwara's journey is a testament to the power of evolution and innovation. The band embraces change while staying rooted in tradition.
