The Roxies Biography
NEW ALBUM OUT NOW! THE ROXIES "KEEP YOU UP AT NIGHT"
The Roxies are a four-piece punk rock/powerpop chimera from Berlin who, after their great debut “Don’t Wanna Dance Because I’m Told To” released on Dirt Cult / Family Spree in 2022, are now presenting their even smarter new album! 12 songs that combine 60s pop, bubblegum vibe, RnR & 70s California beach punk with absolute aplomb. It has such an infectious freshness and the songs are so casually belted out that you simply can’t stand still. The tracks feature garagey guitar licks, poppy harmonies, crisp grooving drumming and absurdly cool bass hooks. At the same time, they also become melancholic from time to time and above all exude a musical depth that comes across as a combination of The Nerves, Clorox Girls & B52s. The Roxies probably owe a British touch on top (Kinks & Buzzcocks send their regards) to their singer Matthew from Yorkshire, UK, who is regularly supported by super-cool backing vocals and occasional vocal contributions from bassist Imke. Ingenius stuff! * Flight 13 / Dirt Cult
