About this concert
The Wandering Kind is an alt-country project led by Portland-based singer-songwriter Kyle J. Glenn (he/him). Blending storytelling-driven lyrics with acoustic warmth and atmospheric textures, The Wandering Kind evokes the restless spirit of travel and self-discovery. Inspired by artists like Gillian Welch, Big Thief, John Prine, and The Mountain Goats, the project explores themes of home, longing, and the open road. After years of traversing the U.S. and performing in Spain and Portugal, Kyle returned to Portland, where The Wandering Kind continues to craft songs that resonate with the soul-searching and the free-spirited.

Kyle J. Glenn Biography
Hailing from Portland, Oregon, Kyle J. Glenn (he/him) is a singer-songwriter who has been crafting and performing his own songs since 2014. With a sound that spans folk rock, alt-country, and singer-songwriter traditions, Kyle’s music is deeply story-centered, drawing inspiration from artists like Gillian Welch, John Prine, The Mountain Goats, and Big Thief.
His single, "Parking Lot," was featured on Kink FM 102's Homegrown Discovery, and he has performed at iconic venues such as The Ruins in Hood River and Trout Lake Hall, as well as the Tumbleweed Music Festival in Richland, Washington. Kyle has twice toured across the U.S. and played shows in Spain and Portugal, sharing stages with acts like Tele Novella, Marty O’Reilly, Tony Furtado, The Sam Chase & the Untraditional, Boot Juice, Jeremy Pinnell, and David Quinn.
Kyle’s latest release, Everywhere is Close to Somewhere Else, is a reflection of a decade-long journey—both musically and personally. This record is a sonic map of Kyle’s search for "home" over the past ten years, from leaving Portland at 25 for San Francisco to multiple cross-country travels. The songs, some written as early as 2013 and others as recently as 2023, explore the intersections of place and identity. Originally considering the title Geographies, the record ultimately became Everywhere is Close to Somewhere Else, a nod to the realization that "home" is more a state of mind than a physical location.
Kyle can be found around the PNW performing solo and backed by his band, The Wandering Kind. In addition to music, Kyle enjoys climbing, running, photography, block printing, and filmmaking, bringing a multidimensional approach to his creative expression.
