What a beautiful night. Marlon and his band (the Yarra Benders) played the Māori language songs from his newest album (Te Whare Tīwekaweka) and they were just glorious. He had a charming banter and connection with the predominantly Australian audience. I point this out because Māori is not a language many would have had much understanding of. He did play a couple of his earlier English-language songs (crowd favourites!). The set went from solo pieces (Marlon on the piano) to full band (both guitarists being multi-instrumentalists too) to having their entire support act, Ngā Mātai Pūrua (over 20 I think), perform on stage. So incredible! Marlon has the most beautiful voice and positive energy! If you can go and see him live, I would say DO IT!
