About this concert
Few bands are capable of aiming for as many stand out cultural moments as The Paper Kites. Even fewer are able to meaningfully connect every single time, but that’s the humble and surprising achievement of a band innovating and energizing with each release. Six albums deep, their music has been streamed over a billion times, with more than eight million monthly listeners on Spotify. Audiences globally have fallen in love with, and to, their blend of folk/rock/Americana, with the band’s artistry both on record and the stage developing a dedicated community of Paper Kites devotees. With a decade of global touring under their hats, playing at iconic venues such as London’s O2 Forum, The Fonda Theatre in Los Angeles, and The Enmore, one of the spiritual homes of live music in Sydney, they are also beloved at festivals with performances at Austin City Limits, Calgary Folk Festival as well as Australia’s Bluesfest. The Paper Kites tug on the heartstrings like few other acts whenever they perform live, compelling audiences to feel every single note. Their live reputation is only matched by the strength of their discography — one cannot thrive without the other. Perennial fan-favourite ‘Bloom’, off the Woodland EP, has been certified platinum in the Netherlands, Canada, Italy, Australia, and New Zealand, as well as in the US. The RIAA platinum certification saw them enter rarified air as one of the few Australian artists to receive such an honour, joining the likes of AC/DC, INXS, Midnight Oil, Kylie Minogue, Flume, SIA, and Silverchair. Closer to home, and At The Roadhouse was nominated for an ARIA Award in 2024 for Best Blues & Roots Album, while 2018’s On The Corner Where You Live was nominated for Best Adult Contemporary Album at the 2019 ARIA Awards. Never long off the road the band have announced a tour of India, Thailand and the Philippines for 2025, with much, much more to come.

The band itself was great! I wish they played longer. However it wasn’t clear to me from the ticket that the Paper Kites wouldn’t play until after 9pm!!! So we got there about 7pm as the ticket advertised. Then stood for a full hour waiting for something to happen. About 8pm the support act started. It was ok but not really professional and went on for about 45 mins. That’s not what I paid for and came to listen to and there was no information whatsoever prior to the concert who the support act would be. The ticket just said special guests. So by 9pm we were already standing in one place for 2hrs. That is a loooong time! Then stood another 1.5hrs for the band I actually came to see. Next time write on the tickets who the support act is, what time the actual paid band will start and that the venue is standing room only! If not for the 3.5hrs of standing and little info I would have given it 5 stars.
