Kevin Connnolly Biography
Kevin Connolly has been in and out of trouble with words, music, and the truth for what feels like two centuries. Raised on raw clams and sarcasm south of Boston, he’s written 324 songs, 132 poems, made thirteen albums, two children, and about 1,213 friends (on a good day).
For over 30 years, he’s carved his own path through American songwriting—blending roots, folk, rock, and Boston charm. Think John Prine’s storytelling, Lucinda Williams’ grit, and John Hiatt’s ragged humor. He’s played the big stages—Newport Folk, Kerrville, SXSW, Bumbershoot—and once played to two people and a bartender in Yachats, Oregon.
Connolly has opened for Indigo Girls, Todd Rundgren, Huey Lewis, and Joan Osborne, and shared stages with folk legends he suspects don’t remember. His music has snuck into soap operas, indie films, disaster flicks, and Walgreens stores nationwide.
The Boston Globe calls him “gritty and authentic.” Album Network dubs him “a songwriter’s songwriter.” No Depression adds he’s “not depressing at all.”
Still touring, still writing, still forgetting where he left his car keys—if you want him to play your show, get in line.
KPFK(LA)- “A rare treat!”
NY Times- “Intriguing!”
WUMB-“Outstanding”
Dirty Linen-“Painstaking Realism”
Patriot Ledger-“A treasure!”
Boston Magazine-“The Best of Boston”
Entertainment Times-“Seductive”
